Manchester United midfielder, Fred has prepared to join Turkish Super Lig outfit Fenerbahce, after five years at Old Trafford.

The 30 year-old Brazilian who joined the Red Devils from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, has been told that he is unlikely to play a significant role in United manager Erik ten Hag’s squad in the upcoming season.

Fred, whose contract at Old Trafford is due to expire next summer, is a popular figure in the dressing room but has rarely looked like fulfilling the promise that persuaded the Red Devils to part with £47m to sign him from the Shakhtar in 2018.

He made 56 appearances for United last season and scored six goals as he helped Ten Hag’s side finish third in the Premier League to secure a return to the UEFA Champions League.

Overall, Fred featured in 139 games for the club, scoring eight goals and registering seven assists in that time.
