Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has defeated the June 18 governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party in the State, Engineer Segun Oni at Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Ado Ekiti and affirmed as the duly elected governor of Ekiti.
NEWSTODAYNG recalled that Engineer Segun Oni had dragged Oyebanji before the Election Tribunal seeking nullification of the APC Governorship candidate victory in June 16th, 2022, Gubernatorial election.
The Tribunal, in over two hours forty five minutes judgement resolved all the issues formulated by the petitioner for determination against the defendants and subsequently affirmed the election of incumbent Governor Biodun oyebanji.
Delivering the ruling, a member of the Tribunal Justice Zaad Zadawa held that the SDP and its candidate failed to present satisfactory evidences that the incumbent Governor and his Deputy were not eminent qualified to contest the June 18 poll.
The court further affirmed that it was puerile for the petitioner to base thier case on the signing a nomination letter since it was the party at the state level that decide candidate to represent it in an election.
