Men of the Ekiti State Police Command on Friday repelled an attempted attack on the Ekiti State House of Assembly complex in Ado-Ekiti.
According to report, the hoodlums who were about ten attempted to enter the Assembly complex with the believe that the operatives who had earlier laid siege there since the past few days had vacated.
The hoodlums were said to have armed themselves with cutlasses and Jerry cans filled with petrol with which they wanted to set the building on fire but the Policemen on ground stopped them and recovered the fuel and some of the Cutlasses abandoned by them.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti state Police Command, CSP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incidence said it happened in the early hours of the morning.
According to him, the development had confirmed the intelligence received by the Command about a week ago, which necessitated the deployment of additional personnel to secure the Complex.
He also stated that investigation had commenced with the aim of arresting the suspects, urging the public to supply credible intelligence in that regard and to be security conscious.
