President Bola Tinubu has slashed the travel expenditure of himself, vice president and all government officials, both domestic and international by 60 percent, to cut the cost of governance.
This was contained in a statement by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.
He said the directive was issued as a cost-cutting measure on official travels.
The step will also affect the offices of the President, Vice President, First Lady, and ministers.
Henceforth, only 20 people will accompany the President on foreign trips and five each for the VP and First Lady.
On local trips, the President will have a 25-man entourage, 15 for VP and 10 for First Lady.
He warned that any minister or public servant that violates this directive would be sanctioned.
“Tinubu has directed that all state entourages be drastically reduced.
“It is not a request but a directive.
“The office of the president and staff will be affected. VP, appointees are affected. By this directive, there will be a slashing of expenditure on official travel by 60 per cent,” Ngelale said.
