10th-placed English Championship Side Watford have appointed Chris Wilder as the new head coach after dismissing Slaven Bilic following a run of poor results in league matches.
Bilic, 54, who took charge of the club five months ago after the sack of Rob Edwards who managed just 11 games before his sack, has only managed to secure a win for The Hornets in eight Championship games.
The new gaffer, Wilder, who is Watford’s ninth full-time manager since Javi Gracia’s departure in September 2019 has agreed a contract until the end of the current season.
With Watford four points adrift of the play-offs, the technical director of the club, Ben Manga told the club website that it was imperative to hire a new coach:
“We are all ambitious to succeed this season, so something new is needed quickly while the opportunity of promotion is still real,”
“With the January transfer window over, to change coach is the only option available to re-energise for the final games ahead.”
Wilder’s first game in charge of Watford will be at struggling QPR on Saturday.
