In a disturbing incident in Kaduna State, a man whose identity remains undisclosed has been apprehended by the police for allegedly abducting and concealing a 10-year-old girl inside a refrigerator.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, following the incident which occurred in Unguwar Gara Village of Kauru Local Government Area.
According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the Public Relations Officer of the state’s police command, the mother of the abducted girl, Uwaila Idris, reported her daughter, Hanifa Garba missing on Saturday afternoon.
It was gathered that Hanifa was allegedly abducted by a resident of the same area who denied knowledge of Hanifa’s whereabouts.
However, upon further investigation and insistence from the community, the suspect’s shop was searched.
Hanifa was found inside a refrigerator, her mouth covered with a hijab (veil), and padlocked inside.
The swift action of the community members led to the rescue of Hanifa, and the suspect was immediately apprehended by the police.
ASP Mansir Hassan stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the suspect’s actions as the suspect is set to face charges in court upon the completion of the ongoing discreet investigations.
