The Methodist High School Owo Old Students’ Association has concluded its Annual General Meeting, AGM, where a new set of executives were elected to pilot the affairs of the association.
Old students of the institution from far and wide attended the AGM which held at Methodist High School, Owo Hall in Ondo State.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Akinola Osuporu, pledged to prioritise the welfare of students of the school by engaging relevant stakeholders and the Alumni body.
He equally pledged that the new executives will continually engage all the relevant agencies of the Ondo State government to ensure the upgrading and reconstruction of infrastructures in the school.
Osuporu added that he will liase with the Methodist Church on the possibility of taking back the school from the Ondo State government.
His words: “We shall constitute a committee on the academic performance of the students of the school. The committe will liase with the School Authority on curriculum and learning techniques – possibly organising workshops, where necessary, all geared towards engendering good results in all external examinations.
“We shall persistently appeal to all Alumus and Alumna to keep supporting the efforts to upgrade all existing infrastructure in the school, particularly the classrooms.
“The Executive Committee will continually engage all the relevant MDAs of Ondo State government, in seeing that our school is not left out in the upgrading/reconstructing of all necessary infrastructure – a new laboratory is very much desired and some sports facilities as well.
“Just as our Past President said in his address, we will work with the Methodist Church on the possibility of taking back MHSO from the Ondo State government.”
