The Acting Director of Corporate Communications of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Abdulmumin Isa has said that the naira redesign policy has helped in combating banditry in the country.

Isa who made the disclosure at the 34th International Trade Fair in Enugu State, maintained that the naira redesign policy has led to relative stability in the exchange rate and also supported the efforts of security agencies in combating banditry and ransom-taking in the county.

He further assured that the Nigeria payment system infrastructure is strong enough to handle the pressure of online banking, noting that the redesign is in line with international best practices.

Speaking at the event, the President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Industries and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Mr Jasper Nduagwuike also commended the effort of the CBN in ensuring a stable economy.

โ€œWhile we commend the CBN for its measure to rebuilding stronger business confidence and ensuring stability in the economy particularly in the financial/banking sector, we advice the CBN to utilize the period of grace for full implementation of the naira redesign and cashless policy as directed by the supreme court of Nigeria,โ€ he said.
