In a recent development, the Nigerian Army has officially retired nine generals, all of whom served in the finance corps of the military.
The retirement ceremony was conducted with a pulling out Parade in honour of the high-ranking officers.
The retired generals include Major Generals A.O. Adetayo, J.E. Jakko, A. R. Bakare, A. B. Adamu, Brigadier Generals N. L. Isama, O. F. Ohunyeye, O.A. Adenuga, and II Adamu.
The pulling out parade, marked the formal recognition of their retirement and contribution to the service.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, conveyed the announcement of their retirement in a statement issued on Sunday.
The event featured various cultural performances, a tug of war between female soldiers and soldiers’ wives, as well as the presentation of awards to outstanding soldiers and cultural troupes.
This retirement follows a similar event less than a month ago when 113 generals exited the Nigerian Army on December 19, 2023.
The consecutive retirement of high-ranking officers within a short timeframe reflects the ongoing restructuring and changes within the Nigerian military establishment.
