The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ekiti State Branch has grieved the death of its leader, Dr Lawrence Kayode Obembe, who died at the age of 75.

Obembe, in a statement made available to journalists by the branch chairman, Dr Oreyemi Ifedayo, had served the national body diligently and pioneered many other developmental projects within the Association and in his vicinities.

Under his tenure as the President of the association, NMA Ekiti branch hosted its first National Executive Council meeting in December, 2015.

Dr Ifedayo described his death as a huge loss to the association, adding that his indelible footprints will forever be remembered.

The statement reads, “He served our national body diligently and history will definitely be kind to him.

“Under his leadership and support, NMA Ekiti hosted the National Executive Council meeting in December, 2015 (the first meeting to be hosted by Ekiti state branch).

“He pioneered many other developmental projects within the NMA and his native town of Oke-Ayedun Ekiti.

“He was a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and a former member of SOGON, NARD President in 1992.

“He was the chairman NMA, Oyo State in 2000, President NMA, 2014-2016, and the CEO/Medical Director, Chritus Special Hospital, Ibadan and Premier Medical (NMO)”.
