The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has fined Katsina United FC the sum of One Million Naira (₦1m) for it’s failure to provide adequate security in their Match day five home fixture against Sunshine Stars on Sunday October 29th at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina state.

In a letter signed by the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi on Tuesday, the league body said the club had breached B13.52 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League after failing to provide adequate security leading to a situation that resulted in the shooting of teargas by security operatives to prevent further escalation.

Katsina United are ordered to play their next home game at their Muhammadu Dikko Stadium home ground behind closed doors.

They must also pay the issued ₦1m fine within 14 days as failure to do so will constitute a continuous breach of the NPFL Framework and Rules which could lead to further sanctions.

The club was ordered to put in place an effective matchday security plan to avoid a recurrence which will lead to stiffer sanctions.

Katsina United have 48 hours to accept or appeal this sanction from the date of this notice.
