The Interim Management Committee, IMC, has sanctioned Wikki Tourist and Sunshine Stars of Akure over disruptions during their match-day 13 Nigeria Professional Football League matches.

Wikki Tourists were given three points and three goals deduction, a fine of N2.5m and ordered to play the rest of the season behind closed doors for violent conduct on match officials and Bayelsa United officials in their 2-1 home defeat on Sunday.

In a summary jurisdiction notice signed by Davidson Owumi the Head of Operations of the Interim Management Committee, Wikki Tourists was found in breach of Rule B8.21, Rule C11, B13.52 and B13.18 of the NPFL Framework and Rules.

The deducted points see the struggling Wikki drop to the bottom of the table with nine points instead of its accrued 12 points from three wins and three draws.

Similarly, Sunshine Stars were also fined N1m by the IMC for inadequate security at the match venue during their 1-1 draw against Enugu Rangers on Sunday.

The IMC said findings from a review of the match officials’ report indicted the club for failing to implement effective crowd control as its supporters threw objects onto the field of play, targeting players and match officials, which resulted in the disruption of the match.

The club also risks a possible closure of the stadium to fans, should there is a repeat of the breach.
