The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, will honor its immediate past Chairman, Rotimi Ojomoyela, at its 2024 Press Week on Saturday.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 2024 Ekiti NUJ Press Week, Rotimi Feyisina, made this announcement during a press conference in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, marking the beginning of the week-long activities.
According to Feyisina, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye, will also be honored, along with renowned medical practitioner, Dr. Pius Ade-Ojo, as part of the award recipients.
Other honorees include: Kayode Olusemire, Bashorun Babatope Alabi, and Babatope Agbeyo.
Feyisina also revealed that the week will feature a Health Talk/Free Medical Outreach, which includes the distribution of free medical glasses, clothing materials, and more.
He noted that the Union is collaborating with the Maternal and Child Specialists Clinic, Women and Children Development and Health Research Initiative, Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (Ekiti State Chapter), Nigerian Medical Association (Ekiti State Branch), and Richmarg Educational Consult International for the Health Talk/Free Medical Outreach.
A public lecture on “The Role of Media in National Peace and Security” will also be delivered by DIG Sylvester Alabi on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti.
The Chairman of NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Kayode Babatuyi, emphasized that the Press Week is an opportunity to appreciate God for keeping Union members alive.
The events lined up for the week include; 9th October: Iyan Day; 10th October: Indoor Games; 11th October: Jumat Service and Nlnovelty match at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium; 12th October: Lecture at 10am and Dinner at 5pm while the Thanksgiving service holds on 13th October.
