Adebayo Adenrele
Ojomo Oluda of Ijebu-Owo, Oba Kofoworola Olatunbosun Oladoyinbo Ojomo has been made a first class Monarch by the Ondo State Government.
Ojomo Oluda of Ijebu-Owo is a retired Major General, had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army and earned both the long service medal and the distinguished service medal among others. He is also a recipient of the officer of the order of Niger OON.
He is among the few Obas who are upgraded from grade ‘B’ to ‘A’ which include Olowa of Igbara-Oke, Owa-Ale of Iyometa, Elemure of Emure, Olupele of Ipele, Alara of Ilara-Mokin, Olujare of Ijare, Olumoru of Imoru, Ogbolu of Itagbolu, Oloba of Oba-Ile, Odogbo of Omi, Orunja of Odigbo, Okiti of Iju, among others.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye recalled that Ondo Government set up Justice Ajama Panel, recommended the upgrade of chieftaincy and was approved by the State Executive Council, to upgrade some Obas from grade āC’ to ‘B’, and some from B to A.
“You will recall that sometimes ago, Ondo State Government implemented the report made under Justice Ajama Panel
to look into the upgrade of the Chieftaincy Matters in the state in which the report was submitted about eight years ago. “
“The Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration has decided to implement the report submitted by that Panel. This has given birth to the recommendations that have been approved by the State Executive Council, to the effect some Obas have been upgraded from grade āC’ to ‘B’, and some from B to A.”
Also, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Akinwumi Sowore added that government would make the recognition and elevation of traditional rulers a continuous exercise and would soon look into other cases which have not been attended to.
