The Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, has proposed the upgrade of Ondo State–owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, to a full fledged degree awarding Technical University.
Oba Ogunoye revealed this while addressing the Visitation Panel for Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, led by its Chairman, Prof. Olabode Kolade Koriko, during a courtesy call to his palace in Owo.
The Monarch laid emphasis on the various benefits derivable, adding that if the 43 years old Institution is upgraded, it should not put a stop to awards of fundamental certificates courses known with the institution, like the National Diploma and High National Diploma as the case may be.
He stated that such step by Government would raise the standard of Science and Technical education in Ondo State and Nigeria in general.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the team, Prof Olabode Kolade Koriko, informed that, the visit of the panel was premised on the fact that, the institution is situated within the domain of the Monarch and such important team with an elaborate assignment cannot start work without first pay homage and seek for royal blessings with prayers for a successful outings.
