Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, has formed a 13-member negotiation committee as the state government begins discussions with organized labor in preparation for the implementation of the new minimum wage in Ekiti.

This was revealed in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode.

According to the statement, the committee was established to ensure compliance with the new minimum wage law signed by President Bola Tinubu.

The negotiation committee, which includes government officials and leaders of organized labor in the state, is chaired by the state’s Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi.

Other members include Akintunde Oyebode (Commissioner for Finance), Comrade K. Faromiluyi (Special Adviser on Labor Matters), Mrs. Titilayo Olayinka (Accountant General/Permanent Secretary), Mr. Bamise Sunday Julius (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice), Mr. Oluwadare Jolumo (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance), and Mrs. Janet Ajibola (Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Service Matters), who will serve as Secretary.

Representatives of organized labour on the committee include Olufemi Ajoloko (Chairman, Joint Negotiation Council), Olatunde Kolapo (Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress), Sola Adigun (Chairman, Trade Union Congress), Yetunde Emmanuel (Secretary, JNC), Israel Taiwo (Secretary, NLC), and Yemi Peters (Secretary, TUC).

The committee’s first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4th, 2024.
