Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has tasked members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to play a pivotal role in promoting unity, integration, and development.

During the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream two Corps members at the Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti orientation camp, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of viewing themselves as agents of positive change.

Addressing the Corps members through the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Gold Adedayo, Governor Oyebanji urged them to embody values such as hard work, discipline, and dedication to national development.

He reassured them that the state government would recognize and reward outstanding achievements, highlighting the prestigious State Honours Award as an example.

Governor Oyebanji acknowledged the significant influence that youth can have on their communities, expressing confidence that their contributions could propel the nation towards greatness. He emphasized the need for the new Corps members to adapt to their new environments, overcome challenges, and lay a solid foundation for a year of impactful service.

The Ekiti State Coordinator of the NYSC, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shaibu, echoed the governor’s sentiments and issued a stern warning against cultism and any activities that could disrupt the peaceful coexistence of the orientation camp. He assured that adequate measures had been put in place to maintain a conducive and secure environment for the Corps members throughout their orientation period.
