Minister of Humanitarian Affair and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu has promised that there would be accountability and transparency in the distribution of palliatives.
Edu who said this during a live interview on the ARISE NEWS “Morning Show”, stated that those were the strategies being proposed towards resolving the issue of poverty in Nigeria.
According to her, the palliatives will be disbursed, through improved method of logistics and the use of Global Positioning System, GPS, adding that the government will also work with private sectors in order to ensure equitable distribution.
“We will Improve logistics and deliver to their doorstep where they live. That way they can sign up, and we are sure the families have received it through the use of GPS.
“We will deploy logistics company initiatives and we can categorically say Yes at least 98% of the items have been delivered to their location” she said.
Speaking on the 800million dollar loan, she noted, “There will be a clear review by the president, after which recommendations will be given to him by us and a conclusion drawn while working with the Federal Executive council as to who will receive the funds.
“However, it will be done in an accountable manner and given to the right person who are truly poor and need to be subsidized and taken from poverty”, she added.
