…as Dr Ade-Ojo bags Meritorious Award
A Consultant, Obstetrician, Gynecologist and the CEO Aribel Healthcare Consulting Services, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Omolola Ajayi has tasked Journalists in the state to prioritize their health.
Dr. Ajayi urged the newsmen while speaking as the Guest Lecturer at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council Health Outreach program held at the NUJ Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.
The Health Outreach program which serves as part of the events heralding the Ekiti NUJ Press Week had in attendance Journalists and members of the public as well as collaborating agencies.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Healthy Living and Prevention of Diseases’, Dr. Ajayi explained that health becomes expensive only when diseases are not prevented.
According to her, “Health becomes expensive when we don’t prevent diseases. Knowing that eating good food with a little money is better, safer and cheaper than spending a lot of money in treating any sickness. The locally made vegetables which our fathers had eaten has prevented lots of sickness, unlike in this present day.”
Emphasizing on the need for physical exercise, Dr. Ajayi also charged individuals to consciously engage in exercise such as trekking, swimming and cycling.
She equally encouraged the participants to avoid self medication, drink enough water and always engage in routine screening to help discover any health challenge on time.
“Any opportunity like this causes mental alertness/awareness, as depression can take hold of anyone.”
Dr. Ajayi further beckoned on the participants to put into practice health measures learnt in the course of the lecture.
In his address of welcome, the Ekiti NUJ Chairman, Kayode Babatuyi commended the health agencies for collaborating the Union for the exercise.
He charged Journalists and members of the public to always prioritize their individual health towards having a healthy society.
One of the major highlights of the event was an award to Dr. Pius Ade-Ojo of the Maternal-Child Specialists’ Clinics Ado-Ekiti by Ekiti NUJ.
He dedicated the award to God and to women who died during child birth and mortality rate saying that he is obeying God’s mandate through his philanthropy.
