In a successful intervention, the Okokomaiko Division patrol team halted a potential public health risk as they intercepted a Volkswagen LT bus at Afromedia around 5:40 pm yesterday.
The search revealed seventy cartons of expired Feed Fine Cyproheptadine Caplets 4g, all bearing an expiry date of 2016.
The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Augustine Egemoye (60) and Innocent Eremosele (35), made a startling confession, admitting to transporting the expired drugs to an individual in Alaba, who allegedly planned to change the expiry dates before further distribution to Port-Harcourt for sale.
Both suspects, along with the illicit drugs and the vehicle, are currently in police custody.
Authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the owner of the drugs, the individual responsible for altering expiry dates, and any other persons implicated in the operation.
