…hail impacts in health, education sectors


Surulere Community Stakeholders Group and National Youth and Students Group have lauded the landmark achievements of Femi Gbajabiamila during his 2-decades of reign at the House of Representatives.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Presidents of the Groups, Badejo Olaniyan and Vincent Okafor in Abuja.

They lauded his consistency and Stellar legislative career spanning minority leadership (2007-2015) majority leadership (2015-2019) and Speaker of the 14th House of Reps from 2019 to 2023.

They stated that his various projects on health make him extraordinary among other lawmakers, alongside how he kept the welfare of Nigerians abreast especially his constituents at Surelere 1 of Lagos State.

They noted that his sponsorship of Students Loans Act, 2023, was a testament of his immense commitment and support towards the development of education sector of the country.

Apart from the student loan, Gbajabiamila also sponsored 25 more bills in the 14th House of Reps which include: Electric Power Sector Reform Act (Amendment) Bill 2019, Physically Challenged (Empowerment) Bill 2019, Quarantine Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill 2020, Nigeria Health Infrastructure Development Bank (Establishment Etc) Bill 2020, among others.

The statement reads, “As true Nigerians who know the value of democracy in our country, we hail the consistency and Stellar legislative career of our Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, spanning Minority Leadership, Majority Leadership and Speakership.

“Gbajabiamila has sponsored important pieces of legislation including the Students Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, 2023

“He also executed projects especially in health and education, likewise institutionalising and strengthening legislature with Legislative Library.

“During his reign as the 14th Speaker of lower chamber, he had sponsored 25 Bills in the last Assembly with about 10 considered crucial passed by the House.

“The bills include Electric Power Sector Reform Act (Amendment) Bill 2019, Physically Challenged (Empowerment) Bill 2019, Presidential (Transition) Bil 2019l, South West Development Commission (Establishment) Bill 2019. Labour Act (Amendment) Bill 2019, Economic Stimulus Bill 2019, Emergency Economic Stimulus Bill 2020, Quarantine Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill 2020 and Nigeria Health Infrastructure Development Bank (Establishment Etc) Bill 2020.

“It is on this note we say that Femi Gbajabiamila is a true democrat, who understands the technicalities of governance and a true leader who always act in the interest of his people.”

Recalled that Gbajabiamila, who represented Surelere 1 of Lagos state, had been in the House of Representatives since 3 June 2003 till 11 June 2023, marking his 20 years of political career at the green chamber.
