The Governor of Ekiti state, Biodun Oyebanji has called on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state to promote national peace, instill the spirit of statesmanship, patriotism and drive self-sufficiency and reliance.

The Governor stated this in Ise-Orun/Emure Camp in Ekiti State during the 21-Day orientation program of 2024 Batch B, stream II corps members.

Oyebanji, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Solafemi Adeloye explained that the traits are veritable tools for national growth and development.

While congratulating the corps members on the completion of their studies at their respective institutions, urged them to brace up for the mentally, physically, morally and socially challenging experience of the 3 weeks orientation exercise.

Emphasizing the need for peaceful coexistence during and after the orientation exercise, Oyebanji tasked them to promote peace, while equally assuring them of their safety in Ekiti State, as the state has maintained a remarkable peaceful record.

The Governor further advised the corps members to use the orientation exercise and subsequent service year to network with like minds, meet and tolerate diverse people, learn new skills, particularly through the Skill Acquisitions and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) program, as such will enable them to further drive the message of self-sufficiency and reliance.

In his remarks, the Ekiti State Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu appreciated the Governor for his immeasurable support towards the NYSC scheme in the state while soliciting for continued interventions in key areas for the progress of the scheme in the State.

In his words, ” A testament of His Excellency contribution towards ensuring the success of this scheme in the state is the ongoing swift construction of over 45 units of toilets and bathroom across the camp initiated just a month ago.”

The event had in attendance members of the military and paramilitary forces, Royal fathers, representative of different ministries, departments and parastatals of government.
