The viral video of a heated altercation between a lawmaker and a Uber driver has stirred reactions among netizens on social media after he slapped the driver three times, while also threatening to make him vanish from the country.
Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, who is a lawmaker representing Aba North & South Federal Constituency of Imo State, has come under fire after a viral video showed him physically assaulting an Uber driver at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.
According to reports, the confrontation began when the driver requested that Ikwechegh come outside to personally receive his delivery.
The driver stated that the lawmaker took offense at the request, perceiving it as disrespectful to his status.
In the footage, Ikwechegh can be seen angrily berating and cursing the driver before slapping him repeatedly. The lawmaker was reportedly incensed by what he deemed an inappropriate demand for him to step out of his residence.
The tension escalated further, with the lawmaker allegedly threatening the driver, boasting that he could make him “disappear” without any consequences. A second video circulating online showed the driver sitting shirtless in his car, claiming that Ikwechegh had torn his clothes during the incident.
