The British Author of “The Satanic Verses”,Salman Rushdie, who has been on the Ventilator at the Hospital for emergency surgery after being stabbed at a literary event in New York State has been confirmed to likely lose an eye following the attack.

This is contained in a statement by his agent, Andrew Wylie, adding that the nerves in his arm were severed while his liver was stabbed and damaged which has made him incommunicado since the attack.

“The news is not good. Salman will likely lose one eye; the nerves in his arm were severed; and his liver was stabbed and damaged and he could not speak.”

Carl LeVan, an American University Politics Professor, who was an attendee of the event said that the Assailant, identified as Hadi Matar, 24-year-old from Fairfield, New Jersey by New York State Police, “rushed onto the stage and stabbed Rushdie repeatedly and viciously before he was subdued.”

According to New York State Police, An interviewer on-stage, 73-year-old Ralph Henry Reese, also suffered facial injury but, was released from the hospital.

The attack took place at the Chautauqua Institution, which hosts arts programs in a tranquil lakeside Community 70 miles(110 kilometres) south of Buffalo city.
