In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling affirming his victory as the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude and extended an invitation to members of opposition parties to collaborate with his administration.

The Supreme Court upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory and dismissed the appeal filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, solidifying the legitimacy of Sanwo-Olu’s election. Justice Garba Lawal, who delivered the lead judgment, affirmed the qualification of the deputy governor of Lagos, Obafemi Hamzat, in the March 18, 2023, governorship election.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, known for his inclusive approach to governance, called for unity among political actors, stating, “there are no victors and no vanquished.”

He extended an olive branch to those who may still be on the fence, inviting them to join the progressive governance agenda.

Highlighting the collaborative nature of his government, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the privilege he and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat have in serving at a crucial moment in the state’s history.
