In a heart-wrenching incident, Nurudeen Shehu, a 37-year-old security guard at Prestige International College in Kano, tragically took his own life upon learning of his ex-wife’s remarriage.

The incident unfolded in one of the college’s classrooms on Sunday, as confirmed by Usaini Gumel, the Commissioner of Police in Kano.

It was gathered that, Abdullahi Abdulsalam reported the discovery of Shehu’s lifeless body hanging in a classroom.

Responding to the call, the Gwale Division police, led by the DPO, intervened, cut the rope, and rushed the body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital.

Unfortunately, the attending doctor confirmed Shehu’s death, and his remains were subsequently released to the family for burial.

The police commissioner revealed that the distressing news of the ex-wife’s remarriage significantly influenced Shehu’s decision to take his own life.

In response, the police have committed to conducting a thorough inquiry to unravel the circumstances and events leading to this tragic incident.
