Two siblings identified as Musa Idris (25) and Aliyu Idris (20), have been arrested for allegedly killing their uncle in Kwara State.
The suspects were brought before the court on charges of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy in a Kwara State Magistrates’ Court.
NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the suspects conspired to kill their 54 year old uncle, Mohammed Abubakar for daring to solve a misunderstanding between them and their father at the Kinikini village in the Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The persecutor in charge, Gbenga Ayeni, urged the court to remand the accused persons in custody according to Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code Laws of Nigeria.
In accordance with the Police First Information Report, the two individuals allegedly planned to kill their 54-year-old uncle who intervened in a dispute between them and their father.
The report states that the suspects wielded machetes and attacked Abubakar while their father was attending to his cows in the bush.
“The father took his cows for grazing and returned late only to discover that his children had macheted his younger brother to death.
“The suspects confessed to the crime that they were not happy with their uncle for not allowing them to attack their father which made them kill him.” it read.
Magistrate A. A Issa, in his ruling, directed that the suspects be held in the Federal Custodial Centre in Ilorin and the case adjourned to November 1, 2023, for further proceedings.
