It was a perfect Thursday afternoon as the Nigeria National League, NNL side Ekiti United shown the stuff they are made of by defeating Perfect Touch FC to advance to the next stage of the State Federation Cup preliminary round.
The match which was played at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti sports complex, saw the Ekiti boys with a 4-1 win over Perfect Touch FC.
The Kehinde Anjorin led team responded to Tuesday’s disappointing lost to Madiba FC in a B3 Southern Conference matchday 1 encounter of the NNL at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium, Lagos to make light work of Perfect Touch FC.
It was a total dominance by the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium giant with two goals in either half before a consolation goal from Perfect Touch.
Past the hour mark, Ekiti United took the lead when Sodiq Ibrahim nodded home from a well tailored pass and just before the break, Odufu Noah made it two when he guided Sodiq Ibrahim long range cross from the right beyond Perfect Touch goalkeeper who had no chance to save the ball from rolling in to the net.
On resumption of the interval, Ekiti United wasted no time from were they stopped in the first half to make it 3-0 in the 48 minutes when Ajengele Segun raced to connect a pass from the midfield to drill in a shot which beat the Perfect Touch goalkeeper.
Second half substitute, Pius Chikodi wasted no time with just 10 minutes on the pitch to make it 4-0 in the 62nd minute to help secured a comfortable 4-1 win for Ekiti United and advances to the next stage of the State Federation Cup preliminary round.
Ekiti United made five changes in the second half with the introductions of Pius Chikodi, Matthew Ashibogwu, Afisu Jelili, Blessing Igbiwu and Afolabi Boluwaji as replacements for Abidogun Safiriyu, Olamilekan Mustapha, Adiat Sodiq, Busari Ibrahim and Seyi Akinyemi.
