Pope Francis has expressed strong disapproval of engaging in pornography, stating that it “undermines sexual pleasure that is a gift from God.”

Pope said this while delivering a homily at the Vatican as part of a series on vices and virtues.

Describing sexual pleasure as a divine gift, the Pope emphasized the need for discipline and patience in its expression.

In the sermon focused on what he referred to as “the demon of lust,” Pope Francis highlighted the profound nature of sexual pleasure, involving all the senses and dwelling in both the body and psyche.

However, he cautioned that if not disciplined within a relationship and a story where two individuals transform it into a loving dance, it can become a chain that deprives human beings of freedom.

The Pope warned against the dangers of pornography, stating that satisfaction without a relationship can lead to forms of addiction.

He called for the defense of love in its pure form, encompassing the heart, mind, and body, emphasizing the beauty of sexual intercourse within the context of a loving relationship.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the address from Pope Francis comes amidst criticism of Victor Manuel Fernández, the new head of doctrine appointed by the Pope.

Fernandez has faced scrutiny for a book he wrote and published in 1998 titled “Mystical Passion: Spirituality and Sensuality,” which explores topics related to divine love, passion, and sexuality.

The Pope’s condemnation of pornography aligns with the broader stance of the Catholic Church on issues related to sexual morality.

The address also follows recent controversies within the Church, including the approval of guidelines allowing priests to bless same-sex couples’ relationships, as detailed by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, which Fernandez heads.
