Nigerian businessman and Politician, Ben Bruce has called on State government to prioritize citizens welfare by introducing mass transportation.

The former Senator made this known via his X (formerly twitter) handle today.

According to him, a relapse in transportation cost could be an actionable step in prioritizing citizens welfare and reducing the cost of living of millions of Nigeria.

He tweeted: ” The recent removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria has placed an undue burden on everyday motorists, who are now grappling with unaffordable fuel prices.

“This strain has inevitably trickled down to passengers, many of whom are bearing exorbitant transportation costs without a corresponding increase in their wages. The solution lies not in acquiring new buses, but in introducing a mass-transport subsidy to revert transportation costs to pre-subsidy levels.

“It is incumbent upon the state governments, not the federal, to champion this initiative. Subsidizing mass transit is an actionable step that will drastically reduce the cost of living for millions.

“As we navigate these turbulent economic times, I urge all state governors in Nigeria to prioritize the welfare of their citizens by endorsing this subsidy. The nation watches and awaits their commitment to alleviating the transportation crisis”.
