Arise Television co-anchor, Reuben Abati has faulted counsels for Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party following the Supreme Court verdict.
On Thursday, October 26th, the Apex Court affirmed President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the general election held in February, 2023.
Sharing his thoughts during the Morning Show, Abati said the lawyers of Atiku and Obi misled and disappointed their clients.
Abati said: “What is call to question is the professionalism of the counsel to the appellants and I say this with due respect because these are senior people in the inner bar. So, couldn’t they have seen all of these? Why will they wailfully mislead their clients.
“In terms of expertise, with due respect, these people disappointed their clients because what the Lordship just did was to throw the textbooks at them.
“All these things are inside the textbooks of these subjects and they back their reasons with case law but the more important thing is for Nigerians is to see that this matter is now settled.”
