Seven members of a family have been confirmed dead after eating a poisoned breakfast, couscous, popularly known as Dambu, in Kaura village, Yabo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the family members, except the father, died after taking the breakfast meal.

According to report, the man’s two wives and five children died in the early hours of Tuesday.

A neighbour of the deceased, Umaru Kaura, stated that one of the man’s wives prepared the meal on Monday night and served it as dinner.

“The leftover was again mixed with an exposed uncooked couscous and prepared by one of the late wives on that fateful morning and was served hence led to their death,” Kaura added.

The man’s two wives and five children were said to have died in the early hours of Tuesday after eating the meal.

Confirming the incident, the chairman of Yabo LGA, Halliru Kilgore, enjoined the residents to always exhibit good habit of foodstuff storage and preservation.

He added that the corpses would undergo an autopsy to ascertain the cause of their death before burial.
