Motorists in the Mowe-Ibafo area have expressed concern over the increasing number of corpses dumped on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Speaking with Journalists, the motorists on wednesday, expressed concerns about the potential for disease outbreaks and the security risks associated with the ongoing issue.

It was observed that a corpse with burnt scars wrapped in a blue fabric and tied with rope was disposed along the roadside, a corpse dumped opposite the university on Tuesday with another case observed recently.

A motorist, identified as Rasheed said that the decomposing corpse could cause harm if not disposed properly.

In his words, “The odour coming from the dead body is not good at all and it can cause health issues if not urgently taken away,” he said.

Another motorist added, “I think the corpse was dumped overnight but I cannot ascertain it because it was the odour oozing from that axis that attracted attention to it. It means that this place is not safe, especially at night.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, Omolola Odutola urged residents to promptly report such incidents to the Divisional Police Officer in their locality.

“When they observe such a situation, they should report to the nearest police station. The police cannot act when they are not informed, so people should endeavour to always inform their DPO of such issues. The problem is that most times we may not be aware of a missing person unless their family comes to report such,” she said.

Assuring the residents, she revealed that authorities have been notified and appropriate action will be taken immediately.
