The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba- Ahmed, has replied a Twitter user who questioned the party’s priority for not taking the issue of climate change in Nigeria serious.
The twitter user identified as Murtala Ibin, in a tweet, said, “The Labour Party presidential candidate doesn’t think climate change is a priority for Nigeria. His response to questions on green energy/energy transition and climate change was terrible”.
“Someone should tell him that climate change is a National Security concern for Nigeria. We also have commitments to achieve our Nationally determined contributions, Net Zero target and energy transition. Strengthening adaptation and resilience is essential.” He tweeted.
Replying him, Dr Yusuf Datti, said, ” There are more delicate issues than climate change. Do you know the inflation rate? Do you know we are dealing with insecurity? Do you know the number of kids that are out of school due to insecurity? Do you know families use 80% of their income on feeding? What is climate change?
