The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s action of kissing the nation’s highest honour, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, GCFR, twice, bestowed on him by President Muhammadu Buhari during the investiture ceremony in the Presidential Villa, has generated reactions among Netizens on social media.

The response of Tinubu in kissing the GCFR medal twice has been drawing observation from Netizens that Tinubu would be running for a second term.

@Spotlight_Abby

Everything about this award for the conferment of national honours (GCFR & GCON) to Tinubu & Shettima respectively, is a farce. It makes a mockery of Nigeria. National Honours are awarded after an achievement, not before. Unless we’re counting election rigging as a feat.

@Spotlight_Abby says,

“The second part is that at least, such awards should only be awarded when the electoral process is duly completed and all court cases are concluded. The fact that something has been done wrongly doesn’t mean such should continue. Nigeria is now a theatre of absurdities.”

“What baffled me is how disjointed his history which they played was. Man got no straight history.. Nigeria is indeed a crime scene”

@Stanley28196652 stated

“GCFR is never awarded but assumed automatically a person is sworn in…”

@Emeraldpaul_

“There’s nothing impossible for Nigeria to do. But God has won the battle for the citizens already.”

@VictorwonderB23

“Election rigging has become part of our constitution from all indications”

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that title of GCFR comes with every president and is normally conferred by the outgoing president.

The vice-president-elect, Senator Kasshim Shettima was also honoured with the award of Grand Commander of the Niger, GCON.

Present at the occasion were Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC are among others.
