President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to neglect the prevailing ‘ja-pa syndrome’ with a promise to empower more people and provide opportunities.
Highlighting the importance of a united country, he advised them to be neither discouraged nor pressured by the course, adding that his renewed hope agenda was launched to relieve them of their pains.
Tinubu stated this in Owerri on monday, at the second-term inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
Tinubu, in a statement signed by his special adviser on media and public, Ajuri Ngelale also said his administration will give more attention to education and healthcare, as well as provide the enablements for industrialization and investments in consonance with his vision of creating an economically stable and prosperous country.
The President said he keeps abreast the concerns of citizens, with an assurance that the challenges brought on by essential reforms such as fuel subsidy removal, are being addressed.
His words, “In the past 40 years, a few people were cornering our common wealth, and calling it subsidy, but I call it wasteful. Right now, we are all bearing and sharing that pain. But things are looking up. Things will get better for the good of all Nigerians. With me, there is hope.
“I assure you that there will be substantial development in education for your children; priority on industrialization; healthcare will receive more allocation and attention. We will train more health workers.”
Tinubu hailed Uzodinma for his stewardship in the State, describing him as the “real hope” of Imo.
He added that he is committed to building a united and secure country, emphasising on the essence of peace and security in Imo.
“Before now, people were afraid of coming to Imo state, but today Imo is safe and open for business. What we have learnt from this experience is the importance of unity, cooperation, and a focus on our internal security.”
On his part, Governor Uzodinma vowed to make his second term an uncommon tenure through the execution of policies.
He said he would focus on deepening the shared prosperity mantra through massive infrastructural expansion, adding that the vision of his government is anchored on a 10-year development plan which has the capacity to make Imo state self-sufficient.
Also at the inauguration ceremony were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, among others.
