A yet-to-be-identified nursing mother has allegedly committed suicide, abandoning her two-year-old daughter in a bush where her corpse was found along sauka, Airport road, in FCT, on Monday, November 21.
The crying baby who is believed to be two years old drew the attention of the residents who found the corpse lying lifeless with an empty bottle of insecticide beside her.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, DSP Josephine Adah, said the corpse has been deposited in a morgue, and the child is in the custody of the police. Adding that efforts are being made to locate the family of the deceased.
“I can confirm to you that this case was reported at our division in Iddo. The corpse has been deposited at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital morgue. We cannot rush to the conclusion that she drank snipper. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the true cause of death.” She said.
