In a tragic turn of events, kidnappers in the Sagwari Estate Layout at Dutse in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reportedly killed two more of the 10 abductees, increasing the ransom to 700M.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the victims were initially abducted on January 7, 2024. The bandits, dissatisfied with the delay in meeting their initial demand of N60 million per person, escalated the ransom to N100 million per victim, resulting in a total demand of N700 million.

According to residents, the victims were allegedly killed due to the protracted negotiations and failure to meet the increased ransom amount.

Among those killed was a 13-year-old secondary school student named Folorunsho Ariyo.

This follows the earlier killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, one of the abducted persons, as a tactic to expedite ransom payment.

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Ali Pantami, had mobilized N50 million to support the Al-Kadriyar family in securing the release of the remaining five daughters after the tragic loss of Nabeeha.

Expressing frustration with perceived government and security agencies’ inaction, residents of Sagwari Layout plan to stage a massive protest.

Initially scheduled for Monday, the protest has been postponed to Tuesday due to the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The bereaved families and local residents also expressed their grief and frustration, demanding decisive action to address the prevailing insecurity in the area.
