In preparation for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, the Nigeria U20 women’s national team will face Mexico and Australia in warm up matches.
According to Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau, “The Falconets left Nigeria for Colombia two weeks before the competition so that they can play quality friendly matches in readiness for the task at the finals.
“They will play against Mexico and Australia. At the initial, Colombia was among the countries for the friendly matches but it seemed they withdrew”.
Last weekend, the Falconets left Nigeria for Colombia for two weeks’ preparations before the commencement of the FIFA age grade tournament.
The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup takes place in Colombia between 31st August and 22nd September 2024.
Meanwhile, it will be the first iteration of the tournament with an expanded 24-team format.
Nigeria are in Group D with Germany, Venezuela and Korea Republic.
Nigeria will start their campaign against Korea Republic on Monday, September 2nd before taking on Germany two days later on 4th September while the last match against Venezuela holds on 7th in the same month.
