A former senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has called on State Governors and Local Government Chairmen to use the federal allocation disbursed to them to solve hunger crisis in their jurisdictions.

Shehu, who said this during a live programme on TVC, noted that Nigeria is a resource-rich country where economic reforms are needed so that the nation don’t go into despair.

He said, “There’s more money in the state and there’s more money in the local government and there’s need for Nigerians to know that this country is called federal republic not a unitary republic.

“It means that the resources is shared across the three tiers of government but I have seen people only interested in holding the federal government accountable and not their governors and local government chairmen.

“So, it is expected of them to use the resources allocated to them to solve the problem of hunger and poverty in the society.

“We are not a poor country, we are resource-rich country but we need serious economic reforms so that we don’t go despair.”
