The League of Veteran Journalists (LVJ), Ekiti State Chapter has commended the governor of the state, Biodun Oyebanji for putting round pegs in round holes in piloting the affairs of the state.

The Chairman of the League, Prince Kayode Oni, in a statement signed by the secretary, Dr. Ajibade Olubunmi gave the commendation during a visit of the Executive members of the  league to the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode in his office in Ado-Ekiti.

Prince Oni observed that the appointment of  Oyebode was One of the great appointments made by the Governor into vital positions, adding that the Veteran Journalists had been monitoring the activities and style of Governor Oyebanji closely since the beginning of his administration in Ekiti State and  concluded that the Governor has so far performed creditably well.

He told the Special Adviser that the Ekiti State Chapter of the League had taken a decision to make Governor Oyebanji the Grand  Patron of the association in line with its Constitution, adding  that  the Special Adviser should help deliver the message to the Governor.

He hinted that a formal letter containing the date of the inauguration of the Governor as the Grand Patron would soon be delivered to the Governor through the office of the Chief Press Secretary.

While  commending Oyebode for his good performance in Governor  Oyebanji’s government, the Chairman gave him automatic membership admission to the league.

He disclosed that the League was planning to  celebrate one of the great sons of Ekiti State, late Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, through annual public lectures.

In his response, Oyebode assured that conscious efforts would be made in ensuring that more regular meetings take place between the League members and his office.

The Special Adviser thanked the league for giving him automatic membership of the association, promising that genuine efforts would be made in ensuring that more Information Officers are given refresher courses while those without journalism training would be advised to attend schools of journalism to enhance their performance on the duty.

Oyebode urged the veterans to assist in curbing quackery in the journalism profession, adding that there was the need  to curb the negative trend of fake  news in the state.
