The West African Examination Council, WAEC has announced the release of results for the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

However, some candidates who went on the board’s official website were shocked to see “indebted” written all over the subjects they sat for in the examination as they were not able to view their results.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Head of National Office, Patrick Areghan said withholding the results of candidates of the indebted states will force the states to pay their debts.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the Council decided to withhold the results of eight states who are owing them billions of naira.

While not giving the amounts the States owe individually, it was gathered that it runs into hundreds of millions of naira collectively. It was also gathered that Zamfara and Niger States are the highest debtors of the eight states.
