Nigerian Activist, Aisha Yesufu, has expressed her disappointment over a viral video showing some Muslims hunting for food crumbs.
Tweeting in response to one Mallam Jabir who first spoke about the video blaming northern politicians and Nigeria as a whole for the situation, she expressed her feelings on her X handle stating that Arewa’s Muslims were degrading the fundamental spirit of Islamic culture and they should be ashamed of themselves for the tragic circumstance.
Aisha Yusuf made reference to Prophet Muhammad’s teachings in her tweet, remarking that this behavior was contrary to what he had taught his followers.
She also reprimanded the Mallams and Sheikhs and encouraged them to acknowledge and mend the issues within their society.
“The whole of Area should be ashamed of itself. The whole Muslims in Arewa are a disgrace to Islam. Thís is not the population that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) asked us to give. We all have failed Islam!
“As for the Mallams and Sheikhs and what have you. Shame on you all!
“Things like this made me hate Nigerian politicians more especially the northern politicians. Look at the situation we’ve found ourselves today in this country. These are children fighting for a plate of food left by someone in Guru Market, Yobe state.
“Things like this encourage me to join politics because we cannot continue to allow selfish and irresponsible people to keep on deceiving us. We must act!!!” she tweeted.
