The Presidency has stated that the five sacked ministers which include Minister of Women Affairs, Uju-Ken Ohanenye and four others were relieved of their duties on a cordial note.
Presidency revealed that the five ministers were allowed to partake in the Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting, following which President Bola Tinubu accommodated them.
Other sacked Ministers are: Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism; Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development.
The President’s Special Adviser on Communications, Bayo Onanuga disclosed the details of how Tinubu socialised with the sacked ministers in an interview on Arise News Television.
He said: “He called them to a meeting and thanked them for the services that they have rendered to the nation and on that note they parted. Unlike during the military days when they were sacked on radio, he called them and socialised with them, thanked them for the services they had done and explained to them why they just had to go.
“He didn’t make the announcement at the FEC meeting. The only hint to it was that at the end of the meeting, he named five persons and asked them to see him after the meeting. He was polite the way he did it, he didn’t do it the military way.
“Not just the president’s expectations, it is the expectation of the public. Some weeks ago at the cabinet meeting the President actually told the ministers to go out there, tell Nigerians what you have done. According to the president, he said the perception out there is that the people feel that the government is not performing”.
