The controversies surrounding insecurity has taken a new dimension as groups of youth reportedly stormed a police post in Olayiwola Close in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, early this morning in a purported display of anger.
According to report, the youths proceeded to set the police post ablaze, resulting in injuries to a police officer on duty.
Findings of the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
However, reports suggest that the injured officer, who sustained a head injury, was promptly rushed to an emergency centre at the toll gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for immediate medical attention while the Lagos State Fire Service were promptly contacted and mobilised to the scene.
Fortunately, no weapons were reported stolen during the incident.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the attack, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
