The Human Rights Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikere-Ekiti branch, on Tuesday distributed meals to inmates at the Ekiti State Correctional Service.
The initiative, sponsored by Modupe Aina of Danke Fast Food, was aimed at identifying with the inmates and celebrating the festive season with them.
Speaking to journalists, the Vice Chairman of NBA Ikere-Ekiti and Chairman of the Human Rights Committee, Iyanu Olumuagun, explained that the gesture was part of the committee’s civic responsibilities to support the welfare of inmates.
She appreciated Danke Fast Food for partnering with the Committee on inmates’ welfare, noting that such kindness will forever be kept abreast.
Receiving the committee, the Commander of the correctional center, Tolorunshagba Emmanuel, expressed gratitude for the continued support from the committee.
He noted that the partnership with the Human Rights Committee has contributed to a peaceful and productive environment during his tenure.
The Officer in Charge of the Correctional Service, Amelle Olutope, also commended the committee for prioritizing the well-being of the inmates, describing the act as a rare and meaningful contribution to the center.
A representative of the inmates, (name withheld), thanked the committee for their kindness and pledged to reform and live a better life if granted freedom.
