…urges his administration to prioritize safety of lives, properties in the state

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti State Council has commended the Governor Biodun Oyebanji led administration for beginning their 4 years in office on a good note and for paying attention to the rehabilitation of roads in the state.
The Union, in a communique in Ado-Ekiti on Friday urged the Governor and security agents in the state to develop more technical approach to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the Ekiti people.
The union also commended the efforts of the new administration in “paying the outstanding arrears of salaries of local government staff.”
The communique reads in part: “The Congress commended the State government for starting on a good note by paying due attention to the rehabilitation of roads in the State considering their socio-economic importance.
“The Congress appealed to the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, to equally reach out to the Federal Government for a mutual agreement to repair the 12(twelve) federal roads that lead to Ekiti to reduce regular accidents and hardship experienced by road users.
“While acknowledging improvement over security matters in the state, the Congress still appealed to the state government and security agencies to develop more technical approach to ensure safety of lives and properties of the people while the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA should be more proactive in tackling drug abuse which is a major factor responsible for social vices.
“The Congress advocated that more searchlight should be beamed on motorcyclists who are in the habit of violating traffic rules, especially speeding within Ado and indulging in some nefarious activities in the metropolis.”
