…tasks Officers to avoid negative acts, respect citizens’ rights
The Ekiti State Commissioner of police, CP Morenikeji O. Adesina, has sent stringent warning to State and Local security Officers to stay off all polling units in the State during the general elections on Saturday, except for the purpose of exercising their franchise.
The CP in a statement by the Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abutu Sunday, also called on the Police Officers in the state to avoid all acts that could affect the election process or dent the image of the force or disrespect the citizens’ rights.
He equally directed them observe the rules of engagement, while also working in tandem with other recognised Security Agencies to security of lives of citizens and election materials during the elections.

The statement reads, “In a bid to ensure free, fair, acceptable and secured general election slated for 25th February 2023, the Ekiti State commissioner of police, CP MORONKEJI O. ADESINA psc., while addressing his Officers through Police Wireless Message, directed them to be professional, firm, respect the citizens’ rights and avoid all acts that could negatively affect the election process and/or dent the image of the force.
“The Commissioner also mandated all personnel deployed for the election to work in synergy with other relevant security agents to ensure the security of lives of citizens and election materials during and after the election.
“While acknowledging the co-operation and support received so far from the local security outfit in ensuring the safety of properties and all citizens across the state, the commissioner noted that State/Local security organizations are not part of the recognized security organizations to provide security during the forthcoming general elections and therefore, enjoins them to stay off except for the purpose of exercising their franchise.
