Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended a Brazil returnee, Udechukwu Ekene Theophilus, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos.

The arrest follows a dramatic attempt to avoid detection by feigning sickness.

Udechukwu Ekene Theophilus, arrested during the inward clearance of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, initially resisted undergoing a body scan. His refusal, ostensibly due to health concerns, raised suspicions among NDLEA operatives.

In a desperate bid to escape arrest, the suspect’s ploy was short-lived. When offered alternative options, he consented to be placed under excretion observation.

The ensuing revelation was astonishing, as Udechukwu excreted a total of 60 wraps of cocaine.

The class A drug, weighing 1.279 kilograms, was concealed within the suspect’s body in a daring attempt to smuggle it into the country.
