In the ongoing AFCON 2023, Ivory Coast has defeated the defending champions of African Cup of Nations, Senegal on penalties to advance to the quarter finals of the tournament.
H. Diallo gave Senegal an early lead in the 4th minutes of the match before a penalty was awarded to the host country in the 86th minutes and scored by F. Kessié.
Senegal lost to Ivory Coast by 4-5 on penalties, which give the host country the direct ticket to brawl with Cape Verde in the quarter finals saga.
